Comfort is King in Bridal Shoes

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life. And, once you’ve chosen your wedding dress, you’ll want to start about accessories and your bridal shoes. You have almost as many choices in your bridal shoes as you do any other day of the year. There’s no need to limit yourself and no need to feel overwhelmed in your search.

You’ll want to be honest with yourself about how well you do in heels. Many brides really want to strut their stuff in high heels but that’s not always realistic if you don’t regularly wear high heels. And remember, you don’t normally wear heels for 12 hours as you will with you bridal shoes, so think hard before falling in love with a style that may leave your feet aching at day’s end. If you do choose a high heel, be sure to wear them around your house a bit to “break them in” and buy some extra padding.

And if you do decide to stay a bit closer to the ground with lower heels, don’t think you’ll be forfeiting style. These are not your mother’s dowdy, boring bridal shoes. Even low-heeled designs offer beautiful embellishments, sexy straps and sassy style.

Here’s a quick guide to heel types to help you be a mart bridal shoe shopper:

1    Stiletto – Super high, skinny heels. They’re beautiful but unless you’re Carrie Bradshaw on the set of “Sex and the City” they aren’t usually a good choice for most women.

2    Kitten – This is a low, thin heel. These  are great for women who want a lower heel but like the look.

3    Wedge – As it sounds, this heel is shaped like a wedge that starts at the heel and works toward the foot pad. Very stable, fashionable and comfortable, wedge heels can be a terrific alternative for women who want the height but not the balancing act.

4    Stacked – This medium-width heel comes in different heights and is very common.

5    Platform – These dramatic heels are built up across the entire shoe. Unlike wedges, platforms, usually have a heel and then added height under the foot pads.

6           Block – Low heels with a stout, blocky heel. Very stable.

7    Flats – Usually less than one inch.

Whether you’re a high-heeled die hard or flats-only girl, there’s something beautiful out there for you in the way of bridal shoes. For many of us, shoe shopping is the icing on the cake of every outfit and bridal shoes are no exception. They’re fun to shop for, you are only one size and you look fabulous in the right pair.
