A very common complaint among brides is that their fiances seem to take no interest in the wedding plans. It’s true that a lot of guys are not particularly into things like shopping for bridesmaid jewelry sets and flowers, but it is also true that they have no idea how to help with the wedding, even if they want to. Grooms often think that the ladies don’t want their perspective on the wedding. Guys sometimes think that their suggestions are needed because the bride is in charge of the planning. It is often the case that guys appear disinterested because their fiances don’t include them in the planning. Your fiance might have lots of ideas, if you ask him for suggestions! Some brides go too far in the other direction, and talk about the wedding plans non-stop. Too much talking makes men close their ears. Your fiance will become more involved and invested in the wedding.
Men are often more amenable to joining in when the bride does the early research. Get focused on your top options before taking your fiance out to see vendors. You will get a more enthusiastic response if it feels less like a chore. Have dinner at the country inn you are visiting, take a romantic drive, or do something else that makes the excursion about more than just the wedding.
Ideally, the bride and groom should make most of the key choices as a team. The wedding is not just the bride’s day. It is possible that he needs a kick in the pants to get into the wedding stuff.
